Of course, Alexandria is Celebration Central, and they’ve got an acutal committee that organizes the citywide festivities, including a parade and a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the Revolution. Then there’s Mount Vernon, George Washington’s Estates and Gardens. In celebration of his birthday, the historic site is offering FREE admittance on Monday. Enjoy musical and military performances by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, featuring the 3rd U.S. Infantry, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard. Festivities begin after a 10 a.m. ceremony at Washington’s tomb. “America’s Smallest Hometown Parade” steps off at 1:30 p.m.
