One of the best ways to love our bodies is to eat energizing and nutritious raw living foods! Join Sandra Mederos for this special raw desserts class, as she shows you how to make fabulous Valentine’s sweets for your sweetie, family, and friends. Take-home recipes will be provided. Wine vs. Beer Class: The Cheese Wars

Join Whole Foods Market for an evening of “spirited” competition. Our Beer Specialist Kevin Midkiff pits some of his best beers against the wine portfolio of one of Virginia’s best distributors, Kysela Pere et Fils, represented by Cheryl Hauser. Beer and wine will be put to the test as you decide which pairs better with our selected cheeses. Class is limited to 22, so please sign up early!

Half Pint Club: Valentine’s Day Celebration!
Whole Foods Springfield

February is the time to sing songs to the ones we love. Join early childhood educator, Celia Cantor for a fun-filled hour of storytelling and live music celebrating love. Kids will create their own Valentine’s Day basket and receive a goody bag to take home. Recommended for pre-schoolers ages 2-5. Registration required at Customer Service.

Sushi Rolling Class

This class is for first-time sushi makers! You’ll learn the basics of sushi including making, forming, rolling ingredients, and using a bamboo mat to make deliciously shaped sushi.

The contributions of African-Americans to our country’s cuisine go way beyond Washington Carver and his famous peanut experiments. We will explore these dishes and provide recipes and samples from this great part of our nation’s culinary heritage.

Living Green Class Series: Home Energy Efficiency

Join Green Mission Specialist Sean Mahaffy as he explores home energy efficiency in our living green series. Learn about phantom loads, assistance programs, tax credits and inexpensive purchases to reduce your bills. Sean will also discuss a full range of actions you can take from “flicking a switch” to hiring a professional auditor/installer. Participants will receive a free green item to take home. Class is limited to 22, so please sign up early!

Cooking Class: “Risotto Variations”

Learn the secrets to a rich, creamy bowl of risotto – the perfect treat for a cold winter night. We guide you step by step through the process of making risotto while preparing tomato and basil risotto, great by itself or with seafood and garlic and thyme risotto, the perfect addition to roasted meats.

Health and Nutrition Class: “Sugar Blues”
Whole Foods Reston

Special guest Alice Maher will address the huge risks of keeping harmful versions of sugar in your diet. With Americans consuming an estimated 142 pounds of sugar a year, the dangers associated with this kind of diet have created health problems of epidemic proportions. If you or someone you love is struggling with diabetes, mood swings, binge eating, or weight problems, this class will help us understand how to gain control by better meal planning and choosing great foods that leave us feeling energetic and healthy.

Bring the littlest Whole Food Shoppers in for a kid friendly class. Snacks and music will be provided in the cafe. Recommend ages 2-4 years old.

Saturday, Feb. 28

Gluten-Free Fair!
Whole Foods Fairfax
4501 Market Commons Drive    Noon-3 pm
Join lots of vendors who have come to show their stuff to our Gluten-Free Community. Lots of food, great sources of information, and music, this will be a day you won’t want to miss whether you are a newly diagnosed Celiac or more knowledgeable about this disease. We encourage you to please pre-register at our Customer Service Desk in order to be eligible to win prizes.
