Oktoberfest comes early

The Town of Lovettsville in northern Loudoun County is celebrating its annual Octoberfest starting this Friday, Sept. 26.

From the town’s Web site:

The celebration starts Friday night with an authentic German dinner at the Community Center (at 57 E. Broadway) with traditional Bavarian dancing. Dance into the evening under the main tent while the Loudoun Jazz Ensemble performs.

On Saturday the streets of downtown will be closed to allow for venders to set up along East Broad Way and North Light Street. A wide variety of foods including traditional German favorites and great German beer will be available. The main stage will host performances throughout the day, with the signature event being the Alte Kameraden Band and the Alpine Dancers all afternoon. The music continues into the evening with a variety of bands.

On Sunday a non-denominational church service will be held under the main tent. The weekend’s activities conclude with a wide variety of musical performances from some of the Communities younger residents.
