Homeschooling financial aid

If you’re considering homeschooling, there’s a program being offered right now that will help pay for resources.  It’s offered by the Homeschool Foundation, and here’s the info:

Accepted families in the Right Choice Program receive resources to purchase curricula, a computer with printer and internet access, if needed. The family will also receive a membership with HSLDA and a copy of HSLDA Senior Counsel Chris Klicka’s book, “The Right Choice.” A total of 15 families from three states will be accepted into this pilot program and applying early is essential. All grant recipients will be notified by July 31, 2008. Families can contact the Home School Foundation at (540)-338-8688 or info@homeschoolfoundation.org.

Initially, the Right Choice Program will serve as a pilot program for families living in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. We will only be taking a total of 15 families from all three states into this pilot program. The vision for this program however, is to eventually expand the program to other states.

Some of the qualifications include:
1. Children must be new to homeschooling and no further advanced in their studies than the 6th grade.
2. All school-aged children in the family must be homeschooled. The family’s household income must be less than one-and-a-half times the regional poverty level which is based on the Council for Community and Economic Research’s cost of living index. (The family’s financial status will be verified.)
3. The family must participate in a homeschooling group in their area and establish a mentor relationship.

  1. For those that do not fall into the parameters outlined above, there is another solution – Abundant Funds Ministries announced this week that they will be offering Home School families the opportunity to open thier own online stores. The online store features Christian based items such as Christmas cards with bible verses in them as well as wraping paper and varoius gift items.
The Home School family/group will receive 30% profit from all items they sell. Items are delivered directly to the customers home. There is no money to handle and no start up fees required. Interested persons can call 1-800-766-9177 to learn more.
