It’s time to meet the Muppets

Muppet fan? Explore Jim Henson’s Fantastic World at the The Smithsonian’s International Gallery, which is hosting the traveling exhibit starting this Saturday, July 12 through Oct. 5. The gallery is at 1100 Jefferson Drive, SW, and you can enter from the copper-domed kiosk of the S. Dillon Ripley Center on Jefferson Drive between the “Castle” and the Freer Gallery of Art. Please note that no photography is permitted at this exhibit.

Here’s info from the Web site:

This exhibition explores the creativity and “visual thinking” of artist, puppeteer, film director, and producer Jim Henson (1936-90). On view are some 100 original artworks, including drawings, cartoons, and storyboards; television and movie props; photographs of Henson and his collaborators at work; original video productions, including excerpts from Henson’s early career and experimental films; and Muppets, including Kermit the Frog, Rowlf, Bert, Ernie, and Nutty Bird.
