Took the 4-year-old for a haircut at the Sterling franchise of Pigtails & Crewcuts … really cute place with seats in the shape of fire engines and trucks and such. When you first enter, there’s a great display of stuff little girls will swoon over (see below) and another stand with adorable rain gear on sale. To keep siblings occupied, there’s a train table in the waiting area and a separate playroom in the back. Once the cut’s complete, the kiddies get a lollipop and a treat from the “Treasure Chest” (little toys like the kind you get from Oriental Trading Co.).
The hairstylist was quick and the cut was straight–more than I can say about the haircuts my daughter’s received from other children’s hair salons in the area. It was more expensive ($16.50 for a cut and dry) than the barbershop my husband sometimes takes her to, but she loved it the princessy feel to the place.
They also have a separate room for parties; themes range from a luau party, princess, pirate, fashion and Western. While the emphasis is on salon activities (nails, makeup, hairdos), the pirate and cowboy themes do offer some that aren’t gender-specific. Prices range from $175 to $250 for parties of 10 or less.
The salon is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays; open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on other days. The address is 45999 Regal Plaza Drive, the shopping center where the Regal Countryside movie theater is located. If you come in through Davenport Drive, you’ll see the back of the shop, which does have an entrance; the front of the shop faces Tripleseven Road. The phone number is 703.444.0909.
