Earth Day/Arbor Day

Alexandria Earth Day

This year’s theme is Alexandria: What’s YOUR Footprint? and will focus on everyday activities citizens can do to reduce their environmental footprint. Activities include: Reuse Round-Up Event; A Green Home Fair; Youth Educational Activities; Tree Sale; Arbor Day Tree Planting; Performance by Blue Sky Puppets at 11 a.m.; and more. Rain location is Samuel Tucker Elementary School, 435 Ferdinand Day Drive.

Children’s Day Celebration

Hidden Oaks Nature Center  
Saturday April 26        1-4:30 p.m.   

Celebrate National Week of the Child and Earth Day at  from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment, games, crafts and demonstrations of activities celebrating children from around the world. Join the grand opening of our “green” parking lot, rain garden and butterfly garden. Reservations are required. This program is suitable for children ages 3 to 12 with an adult. Celebrate Earth Day!

Animals, plants, air, water, and humans are all pieces that together make up the puzzle that is the Earth. Explore stations designed to interactively teach about the importance of nature, our affect on nature, and recycling, through crafts, games, and more. Solve one mystery to get a clue for the next station, and pick up a puzzle piece to create your own planet Earth! Allow yourself enough time to complete the activities by 4 p.m.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.
