This weekend kicks off the spring openings of fun family facilities at Fairfax Parks; we’re talking five carousels, a miniature train and four miniature golf courses around the county.
Topping the list is the Burke Lake Carousel and Train Rides, which open on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and close at 5:30. Fees are $1.50 for the carousel, $2 for the train for everyone over the age of 2, and parents must buy a ticket to ride with their kids. The rides are open only on weekends through Memorial Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, they start to open daily.
Next to open is the Clemyjontri carousel in McLean, which opens on weekends from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. starting April 12 through Memorial Day. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, they open daily. Cost is $1.50 a ride on weekends, and free on weekdays thanks to a grant by the David and Jane Wilson Family Fund and the Graduate Management Admission Council.
In late April or early May, the carousel at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston opens, followed by the Lake Accotink Antique Carousel and the carousel at Lee District RECenter in Franconia on Memorial Day, May 26.
As for teeing up, the Oak Marr Miniature Golf Course in Oakton has been open since March 29. Jefferson Falls Miniature Golf Course in Falls Church opens tomorrow Friday April 4, and Burke Lake Park Miniature Golf Course opens the next day. The fourth, Lucky Duck Miniature Golf Course in Springfield, opens May 3.
